Research Disclaimer: All compounds described are sold exclusively for in-vitro and laboratory research use. Not for unsupervised use. This content does not constitute medical advice.
Research compounds are tools for advancing scientific understanding — not consumer products, not supplements, and not medical treatments. The responsible use of research compounds requires understanding what they are, what they are not, and the ethical framework that governs their appropriate application. This guide articulates JuicedPharma's position on research compound ethics and the standards we expect from researchers who use our products.
What "Research Use Only" Means#
Legal definition: "Research use only" (RUO) compounds are substances that have not been approved by regulatory authorities (EMA, FDA, national competent authorities) for human therapeutic or diagnostic use. They are supplied for laboratory investigation — in-vitro cell experiments, in-vivo animal model research, pharmacological characterization studies, and analytical reference purposes.
What this means in practice:
- Research compounds are not approved medications
- They have not completed Phase 1/2/3 clinical trials establishing safety and efficacy profiles in humans
- They are not subject to the pharmaceutical manufacturing standards (GMP) that apply to licensed medicines
- They cannot be prescribed or dispensed by pharmacists for human treatment
- Supplying them with the intent that they be used for human self-administration would convert them from research reagents to unregulated medicines — a different regulatory category
What JuicedPharma supplies: JuicedPharma sells research compounds to researchers for legitimate scientific investigation. Our products are marketed and sold for laboratory and in-vitro/in-vivo research purposes only. No JuicedPharma product description, blog content, or marketing material makes therapeutic, medical, or performance claims for human use.
The Scientific Case for Research Compound Investigation#
Legitimate research using these compound classes has produced genuine scientific advances:
Peptide research contributions:
- BPC-157 research has characterized novel angiogenesis mechanisms (Egr-1/VEGF pathway) with potential implications for wound healing pharmacology
- GHRP/GHSR-1a research led to the discovery of ghrelin as an endogenous hormone (1999) — the target was characterized by synthetic ligands before the natural ligand was found
- GLP-1R agonist research, beginning with exendin-4 and progressing through semaglutide and tirzepatide, has produced the most effective pharmacological obesity treatments in history
Androgen research contributions:
- Testosterone ester pharmacokinetics research established the foundation for hormone replacement therapy dosing in clinical medicine
- Aromatase inhibitor research (anastrozole, letrozole) produced first-line breast cancer treatments
- Nandrolone collagen synthesis research has informed sports medicine and post-surgical recovery pharmacology
These advances were possible because researchers could study these compounds in controlled models. The research compound supply chain that JuicedPharma is part of enables this scientific work.
Animal Research Ethics#
Research involving animal models is governed by ethical frameworks including the 3Rs principle (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement), established in Russell and Burch's The Principles of Humane Experimental Technique (1959) and codified in EU Directive 2010/63/EU on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes.
The 3Rs framework:
Replacement: Use non-animal alternatives wherever scientifically valid. For pharmacological mechanism research, in vitro cell culture models (receptor binding assays, cell signaling studies) can characterize many aspects of compound action before animal studies are conducted.
Reduction: Use the minimum number of animals required to achieve statistically valid results. Power calculations prior to study design determine the sample size needed for the primary endpoint; collecting multiple endpoints from each animal reduces total animal numbers.
Refinement: Minimize pain, suffering, and distress in animal research. Appropriate anesthesia and analgesia, humane endpoints, and environmental enrichment are required components of ethical animal research design.
EU Directive 2010/63/EU requirements: Any research using vertebrate animals in EU member states requires institutional authorization (ethics committee approval) and personal licensing of researchers. This framework applies to all in-vivo research compound studies conducted in the EU.
The Informed Research Consumer#
Researchers who purchase compounds from JuicedPharma should understand:
1. Understand what you are studying
Before ordering any research compound, researchers should:
- Read the primary literature on the compound's mechanism
- Understand the compound's PK (how it behaves in the relevant model organism)
- Have a specific, answerable research question — not a vague "see what happens" approach
- Have appropriate equipment and expertise for the intended model
2. Appropriate endpoint selection
Research design is as important as compound quality. The most accurately characterized peptide, administered in a poorly designed study with insensitive endpoints, produces uninterpretable results. Understanding which endpoints the compound is expected to affect (based on its mechanism) is prerequisite to designing a valid experiment.
3. Compound stability and handling
Research results depend on compound integrity at the time of use. Researchers must:
- Store compounds correctly (lyophilized: -20°C; reconstituted: 4°C; GLP-1 agonists: -20°C until use)
- Verify COA before beginning experiments
- Note the reconstitution date and observe use-by periods for reconstituted solutions
- Not use compounds showing signs of degradation (color change, precipitation in solution, inconsistent results)
4. Documentation
Responsible research practice requires:
- Recording batch numbers and COA data in lab notebooks
- Noting reconstitution dates, concentrations, and storage conditions
- Maintaining chain of custody from supplier through experiment
What We Will Not Supply#
JuicedPharma's research-only supply commitment is not simply a legal disclaimer — it reflects our position on responsible compound distribution:
We do not provide dosage advice for human administration. Our blog content describes research protocols for laboratory animal models; this is not advice for human use, and the two contexts are not interchangeable.
We do not supply compounds to individuals who indicate in communications that they intend to use them for human consumption. Research compounds are for research.
We do not make efficacy or safety claims for human therapeutic use, because our compounds have not been evaluated for these purposes.
The Research Community's Responsibility#
The research compound market exists because legitimate researchers need access to pharmacologically active compounds for scientific investigation. The integrity of this market depends on researchers using compounds responsibly, for genuine scientific purposes, with proper ethical oversight.
Misuse — whether intentional self-administration, supply to others for self-administration, or research fraud — damages the scientific community's access to these tools and is contrary to the purpose for which they are supplied.
JuicedPharma supplies compounds to advance research. We ask our customers to uphold the same standard.
