PEG MGF (Pegylated Mechano Growth Factor) is a modified splice variant of IGF-1 specific to mechanically loaded or damaged muscle tissue. The native MGF C-terminal peptide has a half-life of only minutes in serum; pegylation with polyethylene glycol extends this to several days, allowing systemic delivery and satellite cell activation distal to the injection site. PEG MGF's unique mechanism — distinct from IGF-1 Ea — involves binding a separate receptor to activate quiescent muscle stem cells (satellite cells), increasing myonuclei number in response to overload or repair signals.
